Mary McDonnell

 

Mary Eileen McDonnell, born April 28th, 1952 was an American actress who has appeared on stage, TV, and film. She was nominated for the Academy Award for her roles in Dances with Wolves as Stands With A Finger and Passion Fish as May-Alice Culhane. McDonnell is best known for her appearances in Battlestar Galactica as President Laura Roslin as well as First Lady Marilyn Whitmore, and Rose in Donnie Darko. McDonnell was the Captain Sharon Raydor during seasons 5-7 of the TNT series The Closer and starred as the character Commander Sharon Raydor in the spin-off series Major Crimes on the same network.
